Mango publishes a fully generated campaign for its teen line in July 2024, and H&M announces in March 2025 that it will use digital twins of thirty of its models in advertising and on social media.

The H&M twins were made with the models' agreement, paid at the rate their agencies negotiate for image use, and watermarked, which converts a face into a licence rather than removing it. A Guess advertisement in the August 2025 US edition of Vogue used a generated model with a disclosure in small print that most readers missed, and the anger that followed was about the missing label as much as the image. The people losing days are the photographers, stylists, hair and make up crews and studio assistants, since a generated picture removes the shoot rather than the model. What a brand still buys from a person is presence, the fact that someone wore the garment and agreed to be seen in it, which is also what makes the picture answerable.
